Guidelines and Expectations

The following items help to clarify expectations and to hopefully proactively answer any questions you may have.

  1. During the design process a few concept drawings will be created free of charge. Should you desire that several concepts be explored, the CAD service is billed at $75 per hour on an approved credit card.
  2. A 50% deposit is required before production begins.
  3. All national orders will be shipped F.O.B. Woodstock, Georgia and require payment of any balance due prior to shipping.
  4. Orders changed significantly or cancelled after production has begun are subject to additional charges and/or forfeiture of deposit money.

As thorough as our design specification process is, there are a few factors that must be kept in mind:

  1. Each handcrafted product is unique. The concept drawing is just that, a design concept. The final lines of your finished art glass or decorative iron product may vary slightly. You will be notified and your approval sought for any dramatic changes necessitated for structural integrity that significantly alters the design aesthetics.
  2. Glass textures and colors vary. The design pattern created in the manufacture of the art glass sheets used as raw materials to create your decorative glass product varies from sheet to sheet and lot to lot. Your glass choices during the design process were made from small representative samples. It is important to note during the design process if there are any texture or color aspects that are more desirable or undesirable in your finished piece. We cannot guarantee their total presence or absence, however we will work to select your desired patterning from the raw materials as best as we can.
  3. Wood Finish Colors and Textures Vary. Wood stain colors vary from manufacturer to manufacturer as well as from one dye lot to another within the same manufacturer’s brand. In addition, a particular wood stain will vary in color when applied to differing species of wood as well as wood from differing trees of the same species. Some woods are open-grained while others are characteristically tight grained. The final finish appearance and texture will be different even though the same quality finish process was used. There will be color variation across any one door. If absolute uniformity in color and texture are what you desire, then stain/urethane is not the best finish option for you. A paint finish would be the better choice in this case.

We have struck a unique blend between an artistic studio environment and the predictability of a manufacturing environment. However, there are some considerations to keep in mind:

  1. The schedule lead-time established during the design process with your sales professional was an estimate based upon then current production schedule information.
  2. The actual production lead-time may have changed by the time your order is queued up. There are several contributing factors to this:

    • The time it took to finalize your measures and or product design specifications
    • Any delay in receipt of deposit amounts due.
    • Delays in receipt of special order raw materials needed.
    • Manpower availability – Since the majority of our products are handcrafted and not mass-produced, manpower resources and capacity affect schedule lead-time. Please allow sufficient time for the specification, crafting and delivery of your investment in a handcrafted decorative entryway or window.
